Green Security Council
--Terrorism in the Middle East--

Chair: Joshua Honeyman

Assistant Chair: Meredith Reece

Welcome to the 1999 South Kingstown Model United Nations. My name is Joshua Honeyman and I will be chairing this committee. You will be debating a very important issue that has far reaching effects today and will continue to shape the future. Terrorism. Known as the poor man's atomic weapon, terrorism is plaguing the world, and everyone everywhere will be effected by it at some point in their life. Whether it is losing a loved one in an attack or just having to face an extra baggage check at the airport, terrorism effects everyone.

My personal Model United Nations experience spans three years and three different conferences: St. John's, Brown, and S.K.'s. I have represented countries ranging from the USA to Libya. I play soccer and run track for the High School in addition to being an editor of the yearbook.

My assistant chair will be Meredith Reece. She is well versed in Model United Nations. She is one of the school's premier actresses as well as a hockey player (don't mess with her). She dreams of one day running an art gallery.

Before concluding, I would like to thank the people who helped to put this paper together. In addition to Meredith and I, Sunil Kothari, Meghan Shaughnessey, Micah Nickerson, and Rich Honhart worked to put this amazing compilation of research together.

I hope that everyone enjoys themselves during this conference. I would strongly recommend that everyone do extra research in addition to reading this background paper. Don't forget that everyone will know this information. Bring something new to the table. If anyone needs any assistance, please contact either Meredith or me in any of the forms of communication listed below. Again good luck and have fun.
