Committee: __________ _____Security Council SC Res. 53/2 Topic: Terrorism in the Middle East

The Security Council,

Deeply disappointed that Egypt, Jordan and the PLO have now recognized that Israel has a "right to exist" on land that rightfully belongs to Arab/Muslims in the Middle East,

Believing that the recent peace treaties between the Israel and Jordan, and Israel and the PLO have served to solidify the status quo, have led to greater misery for the Palestinians, and have made it actually less likely that a just situation in the Middle East will ever be reached,

Noting with regret that the holy city of Jerusalem, a city which is of ultimate importance to nearly 1 billion Muslims throughout the world, is completely in the hands of Israel, and that the PLO and Jordan seem to have accepted this unjust situation,

Deploring the fact that granting "self-rule" to the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and Jericho is mere "scraps off the table" given by Israel so they don't have the deal with the unliveable situation in Gaza where 850,000 Palestinians are packed into less than 500 square miles (about the population of the US state of Rhode Island in half the space) with a 60% unemployment rate,

Noting with regret that the Golan Heights, and West Bank have been "temporarily occupied" by Israel for 32 years now, and that southern Lebanon has been "temporarily occupied" by Israel for 17 years;

Expressing its belief that it is Israeli actions, first and foremost, which lead to the use of violence by all sides in the Palestinian region, and that it is Israeli policy, directly and indirectly, which is responsible for all of the killings, and that it is Israel, first and foremost, which must change its policies to create peace in the region;

Firmly believing that this would not be possible if it were not for the USA aiding Israel in the amount of $3 billion per year;

Additionally mindful of British and American historic attempts to control the oil wealth of the Middle East, and of the atrocities they have perpetrated on the Iraqi people throughout the 1990s

1. Condemns the PLO for appeasing Israel with this ineffectual peace treaty which accepts Israeli expansion to Jerusalem;

2. Condemns the Israeli annexation of Jerusalem and of the Golan Heights, and the illegal Israeli occupation of the West Bank, and regards these actions as nothing more than "terrorist hijackings" of these areas;

3. Condemns the US support for Israeli "state terrorism";

4. Condemns the US/UK "terrorist war" against the Iraqi people.
