GA RES 53/43

Committee: General Assembly

Topic: Gender Inequality in Education

The General Assembly,

Disturbed by the fact that the Western women has somehow become the standard by which all women around the world are measured;

Observing the disturbing escalation of social breakdown in the West as evidenced by alarming levels of pornography, prostitution, pre-marital sex, teenage pregnancy, and 50% divorce rates, which has resulted in single parent families, "latchkey kids", and a corresponding increase in juvenile delinquency, violent crime and economic and moral impoverishment;

Firmly believing that much of the aforementioned has resulted from the "liberated Western woman" abandoning her natural, Mothering role

Deeply convinced of the importance of separate education for females which would prepare her for her natural role;

Aware of the importance of the United Nations Fund for Women (UNIFEM) in setting goals and guidelines for member nations to adhere to in their treatment of females;

1. Condemns the exploitation of women that takes place in Europe, the US, Canada and Australia where women are valued only in accordance with the measurement of their bodies (beauty contests, "skimpy" female beachwear, pornography, etc)

2. Expresses its appreciation of the media and of education in some Muslim countries which teach the importance of the natural roles of wife and Mother;

3. Calls upon all UN agencies to fund single sex education at least as much as they fund co-education;

4. Recommends that the International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) conduct a study into the status of women in the Middle East to determine the extent to which Middle Eastern norms may serve as a model for at least the Developing World nations to follow.
